Espresso Briefing

The Elizabeth Line will turn three years old in May 2025. Seven years ago, our Espresso Briefing for CPD heard experts discuss how the line, which was still being built, would affect Outer London’s areas and economy. Since it opened in May 2022, over 500 million journeys have been made. But what about its wider impact? Have the development, regeneration and value benefits that were widely predicted been realised? What has been the experience of those with responsibility for steering growth?

In this Espresso Briefing, we will consider the ‘real world’ experience of London boroughs who are served by the line, the benefits it has brought, the challenges faced, why the predicted impacts have or haven’t flowed in the way imagined, and what is still to come?

Martyn Saunders, Principal in Avison Young’s Place team, who delivered the original Espresso Briefing back in 2018, will resume the conversation. He will be joined by a representative panel from some of the London boroughs most affected.
