Biodiversity Net Gain
The presentation is pragmatic in its approach. It broadly introduces the background and purpose of the Biodiversity Net Gain remit, its legislative context, how it is calculated, and its relevance to different sectors e.g. ecologists/consultants/architects. It also touches upon the approaches adopted by various LPAs. The presentation includes some tips and alternative scenarios for achieving the Net Gain and shows how clarity about expectations for what is achievable is key from the outset, between the clients’ requirements/the proposed layout of the development (where habitat is to be retained/altered/cleared etc and what will replace it) and the ecologists understanding of what will be achievable.
